“Patience and hard work are the keys to success. If you continuously put in the effort, results will follow. Today, I am living my dream life and giving my family the comfort they deserve. If I can do it, so can you!” – Tamanna
Tamanna is a resident of the slums in Sangam Vihar, Delhi, grew up in a family of six. With three siblings, a father working as a daily wage labourer, and a homemaker mother, financial hardships were a constant reality.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, her family’s struggles worsened, making it even more difficult to secure daily meals. Determined to contribute to the household income, Tamanna, after passing her 12th standard, tirelessly searched for a job.
While looking for opportunities, Tamanna met a friend who was already a participant in ETASHA Society’s Vocational Training and Placement Program. At a time when everything had come to a standstill due to the pandemic, ETASHA continued offering online classes. Holding onto hope, Tamanna enrolled in the program, expecting it to help her secure employment.
However, her initial hope soon turned into passion as she actively engaged in the training. She learned essential workplace skills, improved her communication, and strengthened her English proficiency. The program also made her realise the importance of skill-building to enter the organised job sector.

A Life-Changing Opportunity
After completing her training, Tamanna got the opportunity to appear in interviews (under the program). With her newfound confidence and skills, she successfully secured a job at UNIQLO, a renowned global retail brand.
This was a turning point in her life. She started earning Rs. 15,000 per month, a significant upgrade from her previous unorganised-sector job during COVID-19, which paid her only Rs. 7,000 per month.
Tamanna once dreamed of a life beyond struggle, where her home felt like a sanctuary. Today, her walls stand stronger, her heart fuller, as she watches her family thrive in a space she rebuilt with hope and determination. The glow of her new Android TV mirrors the light in her eyes—a symbol of dreams no longer deferred. From hesitation to abundance, Tamanna’s journey whispers to the world: endurance can turn even the smallest dreams into a life transformed.
An Unbelievable Achievement – A Global Experience
One of Tamanna’s biggest milestones was an opportunity she never imagined in her wildest dreams—a trip to Japan!
For someone who never even considered getting a passport, it was an overwhelming experience. Within 15 days, she got her passport made, and soon, she was on her way to Japan.
During her time there, she:
Won the Global Excellent CS Staff Award three times for her outstanding performance at work.
Received international recognition in Japan.
Got exposure to large-scale global retail operations.
Underwent specialised training at UNIQLO’s international store.
Her journey from Rs. 15,000 per month to Rs. 40,000 per month is a testament to her hard work and perseverance.
